You know, my da always says, “It only rains twice a week in Ireland, once for three days, the other for four!”…..well not this week big poppa as the sun has been burning down on the Emerald Isle like Kerry Katona’s using her Iceland staff discount (Flat-out!!!).

For once we have nothing but sunburn to moan and complain about and it’s fucking great. Fat guys finally get to wear their 4 pack of vests their wives got them for xmas and women get to flaunt their ulster-fry like figures as if they’re the dogs bollocks…..and speaking of temperature, Britain’s Got Retards reached BOYLE-ing point this week (See what I did there?) as Susan (Face like the Foyle) Boyle didn’t win the pile of shite that was an opportunity to perform in front of Freddie Mercury and the boys, and walk away with the main reason everybody entered, the cheque for £100 grand and some careers advice from Piers Morgan.

How glad was I when the wee small one from Ant & Dec confirmed that Diversity had won and not the most-overrated thing since the England football team, Boyle, had, not only came 2nd, but didn’t come first. In my eyes Stavros Flattley will always be winners as they taught Michael Flattley a lesson in culture but that’s not how the British public voted. What a pity.

The past 2 weeks have saw myself embark on a hectic schedule of chuckles that’s just about coming to a close tonight (Tue 2nd) in Comedy Dublin. It began with the launch of my new Comedy Club, Banter @ The Barista in Lurgan, Co. Armagh on Thurs 21st May with 10 comedians performing sets to a packed house. Following that on Sat 23rd was an open-spot at Belfast’s Laughter Lounge with Steve Cummins, Aiden Bishop and John Lynn. Mon 25th I performed at the Pavillion Comedy Club, Wed 27th I gigged in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal for the launch of the new LOL Comedy Club in the Orchard Bar, then on Saturday 30th at Bric Cafe Warrenpoint with brilliant comedians Micky Bartlett, Paddy McGaughey and Shane Todd.

To say i’m shattered would be an understatement, trying to work full-time nights in a nursing home, launch a career in stand-up and bring up 3 kids….something has to take a back seat, (Are you alright back there kids?) but I wouldn’t change a thing. Making people laugh is the absolute shit and if you can make people forget about money, work or personal problems for even 10mins, then it’s worth every second’s hard work. What i’m trying to say here is that i’m gay…no, but honestly, if you think you can make someone smile or have been considering ‘doing a bit of stand-up’, now’s the time, I’ve been going at it hammer ‘n’ tong (new hip-hop duo from Swords) for just over 9 months and i’ve met some absolute legends, performed in the strangest of places and learnt more than if I read a million comedy books. Contact your local club and just go for it. You won’t regret it…..Next week, How giving head, gets you ahead!
