A new edition of the International Version of the Bible has recently been published. We had a flick through, fans as we are of all kinds of fiction, and were very disappointed to find that not much has changed in the storyline. The New Testament, in particular, holds no surprises at all. Jesus is still born in a stable and dies on a cross. Why not jazz things up a bit, the way these people have?
In the Satanist’s version of the Bible, everything in the Christian version is transposed, so Jesus dies in a stable and ends up being born on a cross.
In the North London edition, he is born in Dunstable, and he dies in Brent Cross.
In the Illustrated European Artists’ edition, his birth is painted by Constable, and his death by George Grosz.
In the Mental Health edition, he is born unstable, and he dies very cross.
In the Vogue Fashion edition, he is born with stubble and he dies on Kate Moss.
In the Wexford edition, he is born in An Stábla and he dies in New Ross.
In the Karaoke Pop Music edition, he is born to Saving Abel, and he dies to Bros.
and of course
in the Richard Dawkins edition, his birth is a fable, his death is just toss.
I’m sure there are lots of other editions that we’ve missed. Why don’t you remind us?
