(Note: I’m going to try and get through this with as many “willy” jokes/innuendo’s as possible)

It was curtains this week for Willie O’Dea. The Minister for defence was forced to resign on Thursday despite surviving a no confidence vote on the previous day. John Gormley and his Green Party resolutely towed the Fianna Fail line and voted a motion of confidence in the Minister for Defence. The Minister met his end when a member of the Green Party filed a complaint with Gardai. The episode has divided the coalition and speculation is now rife as to whether the government can survive the next few weeks.

“Willie Chaser”

In the event of a general election there is a very small chance of Fianna Fail and the Greens being thrust back into power. The most likely outcome of an election is that Fine Gael* and Enda Kenny will be standing proud and erect as the majority coalition members. The only other contender who could possibly insert their foot into the position of power is The Labour Party, Labour have been boosted after romping home with a very encouraging tally of seats in the recent local elections.Labour, as an opposition party has been working hard to grind out results and where one of the leading groups who called for the head of Willie O’Dea. The mounting pressure on Brian Cowen to announce a general erection (ok, that’s a pun, but it still counts)

“Grown men in ridiculous costumes”

There is also speculation as to what Willie O’Dea will do. He is still a sitting TD but it is unlikely he will ever again hold a cabinet position in the lifetime of this government. Given the experience that Willie O’Dea has telling grown men in ridiculous costumes what to do he would be perfect for the role of a strict disciplinarian, the government chief whip

*Not technically an innuendo, but they are a shower of dicks.
